BLIZZARDS 71-91 Yateley Silverbacks

Last game of the season for our div1 team. Fair turnout but still lacking in height to face the two giant 7 foot twins from Yateley.
Good first quarter, with the BLIZZARDS fighting back after trailing 8-13 then 15-21 to finish just a point behind at the buzzer after a late three from Gavin Frecklington. 25-26.
Even with Big Steve Vaughan amassing points using his size in the paint the Blizzards were holding their own. Tom Mavronicholas, Marcus Leach and Harry Preston all making the difference coming on from the bench and getting on the scoresheet for a 45-38 lead with less than two minutes to half time, but two late baskets saw the visitors close the gap to 3 points for the break 47-44.
Steve Tolloczko that had been working hard against the big men defensively was called for his fourth foul only a minute into the third quarter and Yately soon took advantage as he went to the bench 51-57 and soon the locals were 10 points adrift 53-63 and 57-67 at the end of the third quarter.
From then on the BLIZZARDS tired and were never able to close the gap as the Silverbacks pulled clear for a 71-91 win. With Steve Vaughan one of Yateley’s two seven foot twins making the difference in the paint.
Good effort from the Blizzards giving the league leaders more than a fright for over half of the game.
