Div1 ANOTHER DEPLETED BLIZZARDS SIDE STRUGGLE WITH THE START AND END OF GAME

22 Feb 2018 by Marcel Mavronicholas

Farnborough Phantoms 76-53 BLIZZARDS

Another day, another depleted BLIZZARDS side, with U17 Stuart Elliott making up the numbers to make it six on the team sheet.
Andreas Antoniou late arrival made him the first bench player.
The Blizzards laking in height were second best and were quickly well behind 17-4, but Andreas Antoniou soon had the boys muscling in and fighting hard on defence when taking to the court, 19-8 down after the first quarter.
Two great long passes from Gavin Frecklington found young Stuart Elliott who finished both with composure 27-14, the BLIZZARDS were now holding their own and an amazing run 0-14 including threes from Marcus Leach and Szymon Wawrzyniak put the BLIZZARDS momentarily in front 27-28 but three quick baskets in the last minute of the quarter put the Phantoms back in front 33-30 at HT game on.
The BLIZZARDS free throws 4/4 against the 0/4 Farnborough accuracy keep them in the game 38-36 and 42-41 after Frecklington hit another three. But yet again the last two minutes of the quarter see the Phantoms go 8-0 and take a healthy lead for the last quarter 50-41.
Tired but still fighting hard the BLIZZARDS stay in the game 52-45 then 60-53 with just over three minutes to play, but with Andrés Peraita having been on four fouls for the last ten minutes, fighting like a lion on rebounds and now Szymon Wawrzyniak fouled out the Farnborough side took advantage of the tiring Blizzards that had put up a great effort with just six players, the last three minutes saw the home side outscore 16-0 for a 76-53 win, the BLiZZARDS had given the Phantoms a proper fight up until then, well done boys.
