BLIZZARDS 52-53 Aztec Jaguars

Thriller at QMC Sports hall for the first game of the new year.
The BLIZZARDS were soon in command 15-9 with a minute left on the clock till the first buzzer but two late baskets one primed put the Jaguars back on track 15-14.
A great start to the second quarter saw the home side take a healthy 31-16 lead with three minutes to half time, Harry Preston and Szymon Wawrzyniak twice hitting threes, but yet again the last minutes of the quarter were to be costly with Aztec closing the gap with a 10-0. HT 31-26.
The Blizzards as in the previous quarters lost ground in the last two minutes of the quarter to enable the Jaguars to draw level 42-42 with ten minutes left on the clock.
Frecklington then Mullan both missing their free throws, and Aztec still finding the hoops left the visitors with a good lead 42-51 with about five minutes left. The BLIZZARDS hadn’t yet given up, they upped the intensity which had disappeared for a while and with Joe Wiils twice, Chris Mullan and Gav Frecklington all scoring it was game on 52-53, one point down, only there was only 30 seconds on the clock, the Jaguars had the ball, there shot missed and off the rebounds the ball is pushed out by the Jaguars, BLIZZARDS ball, with 2.8 seconds on the clock, the coach calls for his last time out.
The ball now moves up court to be in bound in the Aztecs court, the offence is set up Preston screens down for Wills, he loops round get the pass, drives to the basket, no foul on the shot, it’s off the backboard, then rolls around the hoop but doesn’t drop. THRILLER but no happy ending for the BLIZZARDS.
