Junior Struggles with height

BLIZZARDS U14’s 29-26 Woking Girls
BLIZZARDS U16’s 15-36 Wellington Eagles

After their first lose against Farnborough Girls in their previous game, this time the team were facing another tall U15’s Girls team, all were present except Ethan Wyatt. But the performance was, although a win, a very disappointing effort with far too few passes as most of the players were trying to shoot off the first pass or just driving to the basket without passing, this confirmed by stats (curtesy of Huw Stephens) of only 4 assists: 3 for Michael and 1 for Mattie and another unnecessary Technical foul for JJ Tauro.
The Blizzards gradually accumulated points to have a fair lead going into the last quarter 23-11, this was needed as the Woking girls started closing the gap towards the end and only two late baskets for Mattie Hamilton in paint secured a difficult win.
Team:
Mattie Hamilton 9pts, JJ Tauro 6pts, Michael Dahlen 5pts, Kirk Aquino 4pts, Ko Stephens 3pts, Bobby Bogdan 2pts, Toby Craig, Quinn Hudson, Liam Lodomez, Ben Clash, Elliott Heyburn.

The Under 16’s unbeaten so far were up against a very tall Wellington College side, our boys had Kai and Alex missing, away on a school trip which didn’t bode well for rebounds.
After a respectable start Wellington soon took control when their big man (6"10) entered in the second quarter. Denzel having played the first quarter the job to mark him was left to Jethro who struggled having to give away more than a foot in height. But the real problem was that too many players took it on to try and beat Wellington alone and our offence rapidly deteriorated with very few passes and therefor no open shots.
Team:
Michael Dahlen, Denzel Dangana, Aaron Farmer, Mattie Hamilton, Harry Heyburn, Jethro Oliveros, Adrian Pardenal, JJ Tauro, Max Wilkinson, Max Wren.
No points will be recorded till the boys prioritise the assist over the shoot or points scored
